It's almost time for Spring 2012 MOPS Registration! Returning Moms should download the forms and write your checks out to Grace Baptist. These will be due the last MOPS meeting on December 15th. To guarantee your spot you must hand it in by that date to your Table Leader with full payment.

Please let your friends know that open registration for all other Moms will be December 16th - January 6th. They can drop it off at the Grace Baptist with the receptionist in Building D or mail it it to GBC. The address for GBC is on the form. We will take all applications as they arrive, filling up the childcare as we go. If need be a wait list will be created. We will contact all drop in/mail in registrations to confirm that they are in or are on the wait list.

Please check the dates of the meetings with your schedule and if you find that your schedule causes you to have conflicts with the dates, please consider if this a commitment you are able to make at this time. We are looking forward to seeing you in the Spring!

Organic Sugar "Glimmer" Body Scrub from Meeting #7

Here are the directions for the Organic Sugar "GLIMMER" Body Scrub:

1 - 16oz Glass jar with tight fitting lid (make sure jar is very clean and thoroughly dry)
1/2 Cup Organic White Cane Sugar (or other larger grained sugar). I used FLorida Crystals brand Organic Sugar
1/2 Cup Organic Brown Sugar
1 Cup Vegetable Oil (Olive Oil can be substituted)
1 Vitamin E Capsule (acts as a perserative for the scrub)
1-2 Drops Essential Oil (we used Lavender and Sweet Orange)

Mix the sugar and vegetable oil thoroughly in a bowl. Gently cut open the Vitamin E capsule and squeeze the contents into the mixture. Add the esssential oil and mix again. Pour the mixture into your 16oz glass jar and seal the lid tightly. If this is to be used for a gift, create a label and/or instruction tag and decorate the lid with pretty paper and a ribbon.

Sugar Scrub Directions for use: Mix well before using as settling will occur! Scoop a teaspoon or two and gently massage in a circular motion onto wet skin. Leave on for 3-4 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Body Scrub Tips:

Vitamin E, while being good for your skin, is actually used as a preservative for this scrub

For a more exfoliating experience use all Organic Brown Cane Sugar

For a less exfoliating experience use all Organic White Cane Sugar

Change it up! Use a half-and-half mixture of Organic White Cane Sugar and Epsom Salts (found in any drug store or Wal-Mart)

Check out Sprouts and Whole Foods Markets for other Essential Oils or combinations of Oils and make scrubs tailored to your specific tastes!

MOPS Annual Easter Egg Hunt

ALL Moms (and Dads!) with children ages 0-5 are invited to our Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 21st, at 10:30 am! Bring a picnic lunch for your family and head on over to Chesebrough Park at 23505 Sunset Hills Drive in Valencia for special music by Music and Movin, crafts, and a visit from Juice It Up! Egg hunt will be in two separate phases by age. In order to participate in the egg hunt, you must bring 12 filled plastic eggs PER CHILD. Eggs may be filled with small toys, bubbles, stickers, candy, etc., but please NO chocolate or peanut candy. Also, please avoid loose candy or at least tape eggs closed.

This is a GREAT event to invite your friends to, so spread the word!

We need your help! We are planning a spa day for our group and need you to help us find people to volunteer their services with the chance to reach 140 women in the community. We need hair stylists, makeup artists, massage therapists, estheticians, dermatologists, and beauty professionals. We are encouraging them to have products and services on hand that day. MOPS Education Fair

This Thursday, March 3rd, will be our first MOPS Education Fair! EVERYONE is welcome to come from 10-11:30 am to the Conference Center (Building A) at GBC for the fair. We are expecting at least 17 different preschools, elementary schools, and home-schools, so come and check it out! Click HERE to see the roster of schools attending as of today! You will receive a "map" of schools when you arrive. There will also be some fun giveaways!
Also, we are offering free Child ID Cards! Your child's info, photo, and fingerprints will be made into an ID card to carry with you in case of emergency. This is a great service being provided to us by Matt Chambers with NY Life and Alexander Financial Strategies. Make sure you come knowing your child's height and weight!
So tell your friends to come on over this Thursday at 10am! Kids are welcome. There is no childcare for this event.

We hope you all had a WONDERFUL Christmas and New Year's Celebration with your families and we can't wait to hear about all of the fun things you did on your break from MOPS! Well, if you haven't already, it's TIME to register for our spring semester! Registrations must be mailed by Jan. 12th! Scroll down on the blog to find the registration form to send in with your check. Don't miss out!
We also have a few openings on our steering team for this semester, so if you are interested, please email me, Carli, at crbroyles@sbcglobal.net
Our first meeting will be on February 3rd. For returning MOPS, you will remain at your same table unless you email me and request to be moved.
We are planning some new fun things for this semester, and one of them will be called "Momology TIP OF THE WEEK". This is a chance for ALL MOPS members to take part in helping out your fellow mamas and sharing your great advice!!!! Each meeting we will have a mom get on stage and share a great "tip". It could be a beauty tip, a parenting tip, a housekeeping tip, help with organization, and on and on! If you have something to share, please email me! Here's a few examples to get your mind going....how to fold a fitted sheet, how to get certain stains out of clothes, how to find great deals, fun ideas for rewarding good behavior, etc.!
I'm looking forward to seeing each of you next month!

What an amazing group of 137 moms we have in MOPS this year! Thanks to each of you who made yesterday's first MOPS meeting of the semester a success! And a special thanks to those who served our little ones in MOPPETS! We missed you!

Here's what's coming up next week: Thursday, 9/9 at 9:30 am is our all-MOPS park day at Valencia Heritage Park (at McBean and Newhall Ranch Rd). Bring some breakfast snacks and join us! Also, on Saturday, 9/11 from 8-11 am is the 2010 River Cleanup and Environmental Expo (see your fall calendar for explanation or visit http://www.santa-clarita.com/index.aspx?page=753). This is a great opportunity to teach our kids about giving back to our community, recycling and taking care of our environment.

We look forward to seeing each of you at the events and at our next MOPS meeting in 2 weeks!

Back to School and Back to MOPS!

Well the summer flew by in an instant! It was magical, brief as it was. I had a great time soaking up the sun and watching my kids turn into fish. Good times. Now I'm preparing to send my eldest son to kindergarten and my youngest to preschool for the first time. These are the days of firsts...and lasts.

As we prepare for "Back to School", we are also gearing up for some "studies" of our own, in Momology, that is ;) We are going to have a GREAT semester! We are putting the final touches on our special events calendar and speaker schedule, so stay tuned for these to be posted on our blog!

We will be sending out your information packets on August 19th, so watch for those to see which table you will be at and so forth.

See you on September 2nd!!!

Hi Moms! We hope you are thoroughly enjoying the beginning of summer with your families! It goes by really quickly, so while you're all soaking up the sun, remember to also soak up every moment with your precious little kids. As you're taking all of those awesome pictures for your albums and scrapbooks, also take some mental photos to remember every smile and expression on those sweet little faces as they experience the wonders of summertime. And as you (hopefully!) find some time for a little rest for yourself, also make time to seek out the true and inner rest that comes only from being still before our Heavenly Father.

MOPS may be taking a little vacation, but we coordinators are busy planning away for an exciting fall semester! Don't miss out on registration! NOW is the time.

In 2010, MOPS invites you to join in the learning process as together we explore Momology: The Art and Science of Mothering.
Mothering is both art and science. It combines all of who we are to shape healthy, resilient kids. Mothering is so complex it requires both sides of our brain – not to mention our hands and feet, eyes and ears, mouth and (sniff, sniff) unfortunately, sometimes even our noses!

There's the scientific side of mothering where we develop a hypothesis based on certain principles, test that hypothesis in real-time, consider the results and decide what parts worked and what parts didn't. We keep refining our hypotheses until we find what works for us.
Intertwined with the scientific, mothering requires an artistry that shades with our personality, colors with our unique gifts, and blends past and current experiences.

Through Momology, as we explore together, we’ll be guided by an all-knowing, all-powerful, always-present God. Our theme verse for the year is:

Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. (Psalm 139:10)

Anywhere we go, God sees, knows, and guides. So we can lead — and love — knowing God will get us through all the hard spots, all our decisions, all our roles, all our times we can’t hold open our eyelids and the times we’re bursting with joy. God’s hand guides us as we guide our children. As we study Momology together to become better moms making a better world.

Diapers To Diplomas - A great strategy for growing godly kids conference

Come hear Mr. Larry Fowler (Executive Director of Global Training for AWANA) who for nearly 30 years has pursued helping churches and parents raise children and youth to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus. Larry, author of two books - Raising a Modern-Day Joseph and Rock-Solid Kids - and speaker to audiences worldwide both inside and outside of AWANA International, is a recognized expert in issues facing families and churches in the 21st century. This conference is for parents, grandparents, children/youth workers, and all who recognize the need to raise up the next generation in the Lord. There is no cost for this event.

Welcome to our spring 2010 semester of MOPS! What a privilege it is to come together and RELAX while our children are so well-cared for! Our hope is that you will be encouraged as a mom, that you will grow as a woman, and that you will thrive in friendship! Let’s challenge ourselves this semester to step out of our comfort zones, to take a risk, and to pursue deeper connections with others! Let’s be open. Let’s be real. Let’s love each other deeply. You might try sitting next to a mom you don’t know at your table rather than your best pal. Or you might extend yourself to set up a play date or go to coffee with another mom. God might be waiting to bless you through a new friendship! And don’t hesitate to allow yourself to be blessed by our incredible mentor moms! Ask for advice! Ask for prayer. You will only be able to receive as much as you open yourself up to be filled.

Praying God’s abundant blessing on our time together!
